Saudi authorities have denied viral social media reports claiming that a suicide bomber had been detected in Makkah.
Security authorities in Makkah said the incident involved a man who was arrested for harassing passersby and causing fear and panic among people. Officials said security personnel dealt with the incident immediately.
The necessary legal procedures were taken against the man, and he was referred to the Public Prosecution for further action.
Saudi Public Security also confirmed that there was no truth to claims circulating about the incident and stressed the importance of obtaining information from official sources.
The clarification followed social media posts claiming that a suspected suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt had approached the Grand Mosque and the Holy Kaaba before being stopped by security personnel.
Saudi authorities have rejected those claims, saying the arrest was related to the man harassing passersby and causing public panic.
