Editorial Policy: How We Research and Update Our Guides

Last updated: 10 October 2026

Saudi Life Guide exists to give expats and residents accurate, practical answers about life in Saudi Arabia. This page explains how our guides are made.

Who writes and reviews

Every article shows its author: Arslan Ahmad (founder and editor), Um Rayan (co-founder and editor) or our Web Desk for short news updates. See About us for the team.

How we choose topics

We write about the questions readers actually ask: from search data, reader emails and comments, and the problems we meet ourselves while living here. We avoid topics where we cannot check the facts.

How we research

  1. We start with the official source: the relevant ministry or government platform (for example Absher, Qiwa, Muqeem, MHRSD, the MOFA visa platform, SAMA, ZATCA, and the Bureau of Experts at the Council of Ministers for laws), and official announcements from the Saudi Press Agency.
  2. Where we can, we open the service ourselves and take our own screenshots of the public page, so readers see the real screen. Each screenshot caption names the source and the date it was taken.
  3. We keep official figures separate from what readers commonly report. If a fee or step is not published officially, we say so.
  4. We link to the official page so you can check it yourself.
  5. We do not copy other websites. If we use another publication’s reporting, we credit and link it.

Use of AI tools

Articles are researched and drafted with AI assistance, checked against official sources, and reviewed by Arslan Ahmad before publishing.

Some featured images are AI-generated illustrations. They are not photographs of real events, and we never use them as evidence. Screenshots of official services are always our own captures.

Keeping guides up to date

Each guide shows the date it was last updated. We change that date only when we make a real change to the content. We review our most-read guides at least every six months and update them as soon as we learn that an official rule or fee has changed.

News

News posts are based on official announcements or reliable reporting, are filed under News and Updates, and keep their original publication date. If a story develops, we add an update note to the post.

Independence

Advertisers and sponsors do not influence our guides. Sponsored content is always labelled. See our Advertising Policy.

Corrections

If we make a mistake, we correct it. See our Corrections Policy.
