Riyadh airport Terminal 1 will handle domestic flights from Sunday 25 October 2026. King Khalid International Airport announced on Saturday evening that Terminal 1 is now allocated to domestic flights and Terminal 2 to international flights of the Saudi national carriers. The airport asked travellers with confirmed bookings to check their reservation and flight with their airline before heading to the airport.
What changed at Riyadh airport terminals
The new allocation applies to the national carriers, which are the Saudi airlines such as Saudia, flynas, flyadeal and Riyadh Air. The airport statement named the terminals but did not list the airlines one by one.
| Flights by Saudi airlines | Terminal from 25 October 2026 |
|---|---|
| Domestic flights | Terminal 1 |
| International flights | Terminal 2 |
Until now, Terminals 1 and 2 both served international flights of the national carriers, and domestic flights used Terminals 3 and 4. That layout started after the terminal relocation project in February 2026. Foreign airlines used Terminal 5. The statement did not say whether anything changes for foreign carriers or for Terminals 3, 4 and 5, so confirm the terminal for those flights with your airline too.
The airport did not give a reason for the move or say how long it will last. It comes after the attacks on the domestic terminal complex earlier this month, which we covered in our report on the Riyadh airport suspension.

Who is affected
- Anyone flying domestic from Riyadh on a Saudi airline from Sunday, for example to Jeddah, Dammam, Abha or Madinah.
- Anyone flying international from Riyadh with a Saudi airline, who should now go to Terminal 2.
- Family and friends doing pick-ups and drop-offs, since the terminal you drive to may have changed.
What to do before you go to the airport
- Check your flight status and terminal in your airline app or on its website on the day of travel.
- Make sure your booking is still confirmed. Flight numbers and times at Riyadh have changed often this month.
- Leave extra time. The first days after a terminal change are usually busier at the entrances and parking.
- If you booked through a travel agent, ask them to confirm the terminal and departure time with the airline.
Some foreign airlines are still cancelling flights to Saudi Arabia, such as the IndiGo cancellations for Riyadh until 31 October. If your flight is cancelled or delayed, our guide on what to do when a flight is delayed or cancelled in Saudi Arabia explains your rights under GACA rules.

What is still unclear
The airport has not said how long this allocation will stay in place, or which specific airlines and routes use each terminal. We will update this page when King Khalid International Airport or the airlines share more details.
