Absher Driving License Printing Service Launched: What Expats Need to Know

Last updated: 4 November 2026

Saudi Arabia’s Public Security has launched a new driving licence printing service on Absher. It was announced on 4 November 2026 in Riyadh by the Director of Public Security, Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Bassami, under the patronage of the Minister of Interior, as part of a package of new e-services on the Absher Individuals and Absher Business platforms.

The aim, according to the announcement, is to let citizens, residents and visitors finish more traffic transactions online instead of visiting Ministry of Interior offices. Here is what was launched, what it means for expats, and how printing and delivery of a driving licence already work on Absher.

What Public Security launched on Absher

The Saudi Press Agency report lists these new services on Absher Individuals:

  • Driving licence printing (خدمة طباعة رخصة القيادة).
  • Replacing a previous Saudi driving licence for a resident, for expats who held a Saudi licence before and came back.
  • Motorcycle plate bidding in the individuals’ plate auction.
  • Air rifle licences: issue, renewal, ownership transfer, replacing a lost or damaged licence and printing it.

On Absher Business, companies get incident notices, plate replacement for establishments, registration of used vehicle licences, transfer of used vehicles to a main establishment, printing the vehicle registration (istimara) after an ownership transfer, and fireworks display permits.

Who can use the driving licence printing service

The service is on Absher Individuals, the platform that both Saudi citizens and residents use with their own Absher account. You need an activated Absher account and a Saudi driving licence on your record. If you have not set up Absher yet, follow our Absher registration guide first.

The official announcement names the service but has not yet published its fee, the menu path or the delivery time. Open Absher Individuals and check the traffic services for the new option, and pay only through the platform itself.

How to get a printed or digital licence on Absher today

These routes were already available before the new service and are confirmed by the General Department of Traffic (Muroor) and Absher:

  • Digital driving licence: your licence is shown in the Absher Individuals and Tawakkalna apps, with a QR code that can be checked electronically.
  • Licence delivery by post: Muroor says you can request delivery of your driving licence or vehicle registration through Absher. It is delivered only if you have a registered national address; see how to register your national address.
  • Driving licence data report: in Absher go to My Services, General Services, Absher Reports, then Request Driving Licence Data Report, choose the licence type, pay the service fee and print the report. The report carries a QR code so offices can verify it.

Returning expats: replacing a previous Saudi licence

The second new service matters for many expats: residents who held a Saudi private driving licence, left the Kingdom and came back on a new iqama can replace their old licence through Absher instead of starting again at a driving school. You still need a valid medical examination from an approved centre and must pay the government fees. Our guide to the Absher driving license renewal with a new iqama explains the requirements, the SAR 40 per year renewal fee and the steps.

Before you request a printed licence

  • Check your expiry date: if your licence is close to expiry, renew it first so the printed card shows the new date.
  • Clear unpaid traffic fines: Absher may ask you to settle outstanding traffic payments before a traffic service goes through. Check them in our Saudi traffic fine list.
  • Update your national address: delivery goes to the address saved with Saudi Post.
  • Ignore “licence printing” agents: do not pay anyone on WhatsApp or social media to print or deliver your licence. Use Absher only.
