The Saudi Ministry of Education has emphasized these requirements as students across the Kingdom use school transportation services during the new academic year.
School Transport Registration Through Noor
Parents can apply for school transportation through the Ministry of Education’s Noor electronic system.
The service is available to male and female students across the different stages of general education.
The annual registration fee is SAR 200. Students from families covered by social security benefits and students with disabilities are exempt from paying the fee.
School Bus Safety Rules for Students
Students are expected to follow safety instructions throughout their journey.
They should wait for the bus at designated locations and board or leave the vehicle in an orderly way. Once inside, students must remain in their assigned seats, use seatbelts and follow instructions given by the bus driver.
Students must not put their heads, hands or other parts of their bodies outside bus windows or doors. Bringing dangerous items onto a school bus is also prohibited.
Students Must Protect Bus Property
Students are responsible for keeping the school bus clean and taking proper care of its facilities.
They must also respect the belongings of other passengers and avoid any behaviour that could affect the safety or comfort of students travelling on the bus.
If a student gets on the wrong bus or the driver passes the student’s assigned stop, the student should immediately notify the driver.
Safety Rules When Leaving the School Bus
Students should take extra care when getting off a school bus.
After leaving the vehicle, they should not immediately cross the road directly in front of the bus. Students should wait until the bus has moved away and check that the road is clear before crossing.
These precautions are intended to reduce the risk of accidents around school buses.
What Students Should Do During an Emergency
If an accident or other emergency occurs, students should remain calm and follow the driver’s instructions.
Emergency exits should be used when necessary, and students should leave the bus calmly and in an organized manner rather than rushing toward the exits.
Rules for Parents
Parents are not permitted to board school buses.
If they have a complaint or concern about the transportation service, they should contact the school’s transport supervisor or use the designated official support channels.
Parents are also expected not to interfere with routes established by the school transportation operator.
Violations Can Lead to School Transport Suspension
Students who fail to comply with school bus safety and conduct requirements may face consequences.
Depending on the violation, a student could be temporarily suspended from using school transportation or prevented from using the service for the remainder of the academic year.
If school transportation is suspended because of a student’s violation, the SAR 200 registration fee will not be refunded.
