Gasoline 98 costs SAR 5.33 and diesel costs SAR 1.79 per litre. Aramco reviews fuel prices every month, and we update this page as soon as each new list is published. Many expats in Saudi Arabia only notice fuel prices when a WhatsApp forward claims petrol is going up. This page gives you the official numbers, what a full tank costs, which grade your car actually needs, and how the monthly review works, so you can check any rumour in a minute.
Petrol Price in Saudi Arabia Today (October 2026 List)
These are the prices on Aramco’s retail fuels page, in force from 11 October 2026. Every Aramco and partner station in the Kingdom charges the same price per litre, whether you fill up in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam or on a desert highway.
| Fuel | Pump colour | Price per litre | Change from last month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gasoline 91 (regular) | Green | SAR 2.18 | No change |
| Gasoline 95 (premium) | Red | SAR 2.33 | No change |
| Gasoline 98 (super) | Selected stations only | SAR 5.33 | Up 0.69 |
| Diesel | Usually yellow | SAR 1.79 | No change |
| Kerosene | Not sold at most stations | SAR 1.75 | No change |

Pump colours are the common convention at Saudi stations: green nozzles for 91 and red for 95. Always read the label on the pump as well, because some stations use their own colours.

Most family cars in Saudi Arabia hold between 40 and 70 litres. Here is what a full tank from empty costs at today’s prices:
| Tank size | Gasoline 91 | Gasoline 95 | Gasoline 98 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40 litres | SAR 87.20 | SAR 93.20 | SAR 213.20 |
| 50 litres | SAR 109.00 | SAR 116.50 | SAR 266.50 |
| 60 litres | SAR 130.80 | SAR 139.80 | SAR 319.80 |
| 70 litres | SAR 152.60 | SAR 163.10 | SAR 373.10 |
A typical sedan with a 50-litre tank costs SAR 109.00 to fill with 91. If you drive 2,000 km a month at 10 km per litre, that is about 200 litres, or roughly SAR 436.00 a month on 91 and SAR 466.00 on 95. Use our cost of living calculator to see how fuel fits into your monthly budget.
91, 95 or 98: Which Petrol Should You Use?
Aramco’s own guidance is simple: Gasoline 91 and 95 are suitable for all vehicles. Diesel is for trucks and specialty vehicles. The grade your engine is designed for is printed inside the fuel flap and in the owner’s manual, and that is the one to follow.
- Gasoline 91: the cheapest grade and the right choice for most economy and family cars, including many Japanese and Korean models popular with expats.
- Gasoline 95: recommended by the manufacturer for many larger engines, turbocharged cars and luxury models. Using 95 in a car designed for 91 does not save fuel.
- Gasoline 98: launched by Aramco in January 2026 for sports and high-performance engines. Aramco said these make up no more than 0.5% of cars in the Kingdom and that 98 gives no added benefit in economy engines.
Gasoline 98 is not available everywhere. At launch it was sold at about 130 stations in Riyadh, Jeddah and the Dammam area, and on the Riyadh to Jeddah and Riyadh to Dammam highways. Aramco said it would expand to more stations depending on demand.
How Aramco Reviews Petrol Prices Every Month
Fuel prices in Saudi Arabia are set by Saudi Aramco, not by individual stations. Since February 2020 gasoline prices have been reviewed every month: the new prices are set on the 10th of each Gregorian month and apply from the morning of the 11th. Aramco posts the list on its retail fuels page.
- 91 and 95 are capped. In July 2021 a royal directive capped Gasoline 91 at SAR 2.18 and Gasoline 95 at SAR 2.33, with the state covering any increase above that level. The monthly review continues, but these two prices have stayed at the cap ever since.
- 98 moves with the market. Gasoline 98 is outside the cap and is reviewed periodically, so it is the price most likely to change from month to month.
- Diesel is reviewed once a year, at the start of January.
- Kerosene is reviewed around the middle of the year, most recently on 1 July 2026.
In Saudi Arabia, this rule works differently from countries where every station sets its own price: there is no point driving across town to find cheaper petrol, because the price per litre is the same at every station.
Petrol Price History in Saudi Arabia
Gasoline 91 and 95 have stayed at the same price since July 2021. The real changes since then have been in diesel, kerosene and the new 98 grade.
| Fuel | Price history (SAR per litre) |
|---|---|
| Gasoline 91 | 2.18 since July 2021 (capped) |
| Gasoline 95 | 2.33 since July 2021 (capped) |
| Gasoline 98 | 2.88 at launch in January 2026, 3.83 in April, 4.51 in June, 3.93 in July, 4.64 in September, 5.33 in October 2026 |
| Diesel | 0.75 in 2023, 1.15 from January 2024, 1.66 from January 2025, 1.79 from January 2026 |
| Kerosene | 1.59 from July 2025, 1.75 from 1 July 2026 |
The January diesel reviews matter most for transport and delivery costs: diesel has more than doubled since 2023. If you run a small business with a pickup or a delivery van, budget for the next diesel review in January 2027.
Saudi Petrol Price vs Other GCC Countries
Saudi Arabia remains one of the cheapest places in the Gulf to fill up. These are the October 2026 prices announced in each country, with approximate Saudi riyal equivalents:
| Country | Regular (91) | Premium (95) | Diesel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saudi Arabia | SAR 2.18 | SAR 2.33 | SAR 1.79 |
| Qatar | QAR 1.95 (about SAR 2.01) | QAR 2.10 (about SAR 2.16) | QAR 2.05 (about SAR 2.11) |
| Bahrain | BHD 0.235 (about SAR 2.34) | BHD 0.277 (about SAR 2.76) | BHD 0.260 (about SAR 2.59) |
| UAE | AED 4.21 (about SAR 4.30) | AED 4.28 (about SAR 4.37) | AED 4.80 (about SAR 4.90) |
Qatar’s regular petrol is slightly cheaper than Saudi 91, but Saudi 95 is well below Bahrain and the UAE, and Saudi diesel is the cheapest in this group. If you drive to the UAE or Bahrain on a road trip, fill up before you cross the border. For a wider comparison with Pakistan, India, Europe and the US, see our petrol price comparison.
Practical Tips for Expat Drivers
- Pay by card. Since July 2019 every petrol station must offer electronic payment such as Mada. If a station insists on cash, you can report it to the Ministry of Commerce on 1900.
- Expats pay the same price as citizens. The Citizen Account compensates Saudi citizen households for energy price reforms, but ordinary expats are not eligible, so plan fuel as a full cost in your budget.
- Check prices yourself after the 11th. Rumours about petrol going up circulate every month. Aramco’s retail fuels page and this guide show the official list.
- Keep your car paperwork valid. A full tank does not help if you are stopped with an expired licence or insurance. See our guides to the Saudi driving license, checking vehicle insurance and Saudi traffic rules.
- Driving a GCC-registered car? The pump price is the same for you, but other rules apply. See GCC vehicles in Saudi Arabia.
Based on real expat experience in KSA, the cheapest way to cut your fuel bill is to use the grade your car is built for. Many drivers pay for 95 out of habit when their manual says 91, which costs SAR 7.50 extra on every 50-litre fill. Our guide on saving money in Saudi Arabia has more ideas.
