How to Book a Fahas Appointment Online
Fahas appointments for all licensed inspection stations are now booked on one SASO platform. The old vi.vsafety.sa address redirects there.
- Open pti.saso.gov.sa and tap Book an appointment. You may need to register an account the first time.
- Enter your personal details and your vehicle’s data from the registration (istimara). Imported cars that are not registered yet use the customs card.
- Choose the region, the vehicle type and the service: periodic inspection or re-inspection.
- Pick a station, date and time from the available slots.
- Confirm the booking. You can change or cancel it later on the same platform.

Other ways to book: in 2026 SASO added Fahas booking to Tawakkalna, and the official Vehicles Safety app (App Store and Google Play) books and tracks appointments too. Use only these official channels.

Booking the appointment is free. Fees for motorcycles, taxis, buses and trucks are different: choose the vehicle type on the SASO fees page. You can pay at the station by mada or cash, and SASO also lists mada, Visa, Mastercard and SADAD for its booking service.
What to Bring and Who Can Take the Car
- Your appointment confirmation.
- The owner’s ID (Iqama or national ID).
- The vehicle registration: the printed istimara, the data chip, or the digital registration on your phone.
If you are not the owner, you need an inspection authorisation from the owner on the platform. You do not need one if you are a driver authorised through Absher, the actual user named on the registration, a son or daughter bringing a parent’s car, a sponsor bringing a dependant’s car, or you hold a legal power of attorney.
When Is Fahas Required?
- Every year, before your current inspection expires.
- New private cars: first inspection 3 years after first licensing, then yearly. Taxis, buses and public transport vehicles start after 2 years.
- When you sell or buy a car that has no valid inspection.
- Foreign-registered cars: within 15 days of entering the Kingdom, if the car has no valid inspection from abroad. See our guide to GCC vehicles in Saudi Arabia.
Stations also inspect cars before travel, after accident repairs or major modifications, and before traffic procedures. You do not have to pay outstanding traffic fines before the inspection.
Failed Fahas? Re-Inspection Rules
- After the inspection you get a report listing every fault. Ask at the information desk if anything is unclear.
- Fix the faults and come back within 14 working days. You have two re-inspection chances.
- Only the failed items are checked again, unless new faults appear, and the fee is SAR 37.95. You can go to any station.
- If the 14 days or both chances run out, you pay the full SAR 115 and the whole car is inspected again.
How to Check Fahas Validity
- Windshield sticker: the inspector puts it on your front windshield. It is required, and a replacement for a damaged sticker costs SAR 50 plus VAT.
- Absher: Vehicles, then Services, then Vehicle Management, then Details.
- SASO platform: the inspection status page checks by vehicle registration, customs card or foreign vehicle.
Passed but the result is not showing in Absher? Check that the registration, the chassis number on the car and the certificate match. Registration errors are fixed by traffic (Muroor), certificate errors by the station.
Fine for Expired Fahas
The station charges no late fee, but driving with an expired inspection is a traffic violation. Our Saudi traffic violations guide lists it in the SAR 150 to 300 group, and Absher shows the exact amount if one is recorded. Keep the inspection, your vehicle insurance and your registration valid together.
Tips Before You Go
- Check the lights, indicators, brake lights, tyres and windshield before you go, so a small fault does not cost you a re-inspection.
- Remove valuables from the car. At the station you hand over the car and wait on the side walkway.
- A warning triangle and fire extinguisher are currently only a warning for private cars but mandatory for heavy vehicles. Our car safety kit checklist covers what to keep in the boot.
